My dad, Jim, was a great musician.  He spent his adult life playing piano, ministering, but as a young man, he was an exceptional trombone player, and toured as part of the band, Mr. Flood's Party.

We knew only a little about his time in Mr. Flood's Party, so stumbling across posts like these two, posted to Facebook by a former bandmate, are very special.

Read more about my dad in this story, posted on upon his death:

I just found out that the trombone player in the first road band I was in (Mr. Flood's Party) has passed away. Jim...

Here's a photo of the group in its early incarnation. Jim is on the front left side, right next to me. How about that...

July 8, 2015 3:31 PMJim used to come in to McDonalds every morning and I enjoyed sitting with him, listening to him brag about his kids and grandkids. Jim was a humble man as far as he himself was concerned, but he loved telling stories and showing pictures of his family.
He was funny, kind and not afraid to witness to anyone, even strangers. He did so in a way that welcomed them in. Jim enjoyed his coupons, playing music at the church and his friends at the Convalescent Center.

Gerry and family, please accept my prayers for you at this sad time. May God bless you and give you peace in knowing Jim is with Jesus.

July 1, 2015 5:15 PMI worked with Jim in 1969 and 70 in a band called Mr. Flood's Party. He was a sweet, sensitive and gentle man. I will miss knowing he is still in this world, but I have many wonderful memories of his musicianship and fine mind.

June 29, 2015 3:30 PMThe Lord knows the pain you feel and the grief you carry; the tears you cry and the memories you'll cherish; the comfort you'll need and the strength you'll require. Thinking of your family today and praying the tender ministry of the Lord will comfort you.
